As we navigate times of educational change, there is one constant that continues to shine at Mairangi Bay School: the commitment, care, and generosity of our amazing staff. Each day, they share their time, energy, and passion in making our school a place where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to learn.
In the face of new Ministry of Education mandates and initiatives, our teachers and support staff remain steadfast in their dedication to our tamariki. They go above and beyond, not only adapting to changes but doing so with a spirit of generosity and aroha that embodies the essence of our MBS community.
Whether it’s staying late to provide extra planning, creating enriching learning experiences, or offering a listening ear to a student in need, our staff continually demonstrate what it means to put students first. Their commitment doesn’t stop at the classroom door—it extends to supporting one another, collaborating as a team, and engaging with our wider community.
We are grateful for all that our staff contribute, day in and day out. It is their passion, professionalism, and deep care that make Mairangi Bay School the special place it is. To every member of our staff: thank you. Your dedication makes a lasting difference in the lives of our students and in the strength of our community.
Our Mini Olympics Day
What an incredible day we had at our Mini Olympics! This special event brought together our senior and junior classes in a fantastic display of tuakana teina, where our older students guided and supported our younger ones through various fun and engaging activities.
The Mini Olympics was more than just a day of friendly competition—it was a chance to see our school values of kindness, respect, and resilience in action. As our tamariki took part in different challenges, they embodied the Olympic spirit of excellence, respect, and friendship, working together as a community to uplift one another and celebrate every achievement, big or small. Thank you to all our teachers and staff for making this day of learning, fun, exciting and memorable.
From running relays to creative obstacle courses, every activity during our Mini Olympics highlighted the strength of teamwork and the joy of participating. It was great to see our senior students stepping up as leaders, encouraging their junior buddies and making sure everyone felt included and valued.
A huge thank you to our staff and volunteers who made the day possible. Your hard work and enthusiasm ensured our students had an unforgettable experience, full of laughter, learning, and positive energy. The smiles and cheers from all around the school were a true reflection of the success of this event.
The Mini Olympics not only created memories but also reinforced the values we hold dear at Mairangi Bay School. We look forward to many more opportunities where we can come together as a community, learning and growing side by side.
North Harbour Gymnastics
In addition to our Mini Olympics, our Years 1-3 students have been enjoying gymnastics lessons at North Harbour Gymnastics. These sessions have provided a fantastic opportunity for our young learners to develop their coordination, balance, and confidence while having lots of fun. The skills they’ve been working on tie in beautifully with the values we emphasise, reinforcing perseverance, respect for others, and doing their personal best.
Our School Math-a-thon!
We are thrilled to announce that our Math-a-thon fundraiser had an incredible start! Thanks to the amazing support of our school community, we have already raised over $12,000 towards upgrading our junior playground. This is a fantastic achievement, and we are so grateful to everyone who has contributed so far.
There’s Still Time to Get Involved!
